The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee, has notified applications for admission to doctoral programs in philosophy (PhD), beginning in the spring semester of 2014-15. The Institute is known for its aim to create an environment that encourages the growth of intellectually capable professionals, innovators and entrepreneurs who contribute to the growth of science and technology. It also works in partnership with industry and aims to make it for the welfare of the nation and humanity.
Doctoral programs are offered in the following fields:
Hydro Alternative Energy Recovery Centre
Architecture and Planning
Electronics & Computer Engineering
Humanities and Social Sciences
Mechanical & Industrial Engineering
Metallurgical & Materials Engineering
Technology development & paper and water resources management
Apply for a PhD program, candidates must have a degree of ME / M.Tech / M.Sc in relevant discipline with 60 percent marks from any recognized universities.
However, candidates having a degree of discipline related marks 75 percent from 22 non-CFTIs and in possession of a valid gate score will be considered eligible for admission to the doctoral program.
Applicants will be selected based on score NET / GATE, written test and interview.
The final selection of candidates will be based on performance in both the written test and interview (written test + interview 40 percent to 60 percent). However, the criteria for the final selection will be made by a different department.
